friends & enemies

lest this become an all girl show and to counter any seeming favoritism, i've dug up my favorite clip of connor. the democrats in the family were quick to yell foul when they saw foxnews in the background, and we admit it might be a little on the "brainwash-ish" side as my old friend preston pointed out. this insightful lecture on world relations took place in 2006, just after connor turned 5. he's even older and wiser now at 7.

crazy may

may is always a big month for us. on the 8th we celebrated connor's 7th birthday, on the 9th our 10th anniversary, on the 10th presley's 3rd birthday, and on the 11th mother's day. whew!

since we also have
little neighbors on both sides of us that celebrate birthdays within the same week, this year we had a huge court party with limpy the clown and an 18' water slide. lots of friends, sugar, popcorn, pizza and fun! we almost wilted in the 96 degree weather but i don't think it could've turned out any better. (well, maybe riley could've done without her kidney infection and presley could have done without the 104.5 degree fever to add to the excitement...)

jingle ALL the way

presley's original rendition of jingle bells worthy of american idol.

dj preppy pres

preppy (what she calls herself) loves the golden arches...for the toys of course. here she is with her new american idol toy. we have no idea where she learned to scratch like this...

blog schmog

so i've decided to blog. blog schmog. maybe this will ease my guilt over not journaling or keeping a family history. we'll see.

we've been in austin for about a year now. it's not nearly as beautiful as the northwest, but we do like it here. people are friendly and kids are polite. lots of yes ma'ams and no sir's. it's hot here. when it gets into the 90's in february, something is not right. we survived last summer (barely) and then realized it was "mild" by texas standards. wow, i can't wait until this summer when every day will be en fuego. there might not be an adequate adjective for my kind of grouchy...

last september we moved into our beautiful new home and now we eagerly await our beautiful new property tax bill. property tax in texas is high. but texans will quickly point out there is no state tax so it's a wash, but somehow i'm not really feeling it.

on 1.18.2008 our little ainsley kate made her arrival into the world 5 weeks early. she's doing great now, but spent her first two weeks in the NICU, getting help breathing and eating, both important life skills. we're so glad she's home with us now. she's a doll...and is so small she actually looks like one. here she is with my friend mel.

presley is turning 3 soon. she's getting sassy. i'll post some pictures/videos. you'll see what i mean. you'll notice her rear often making an appearance.

connor is almost 7 and recently took off the training wheels on his bike. he then immediately proceeded to ride down the hill on our driveway. which tells us we should've taken them off last year. but anyone that knows him knows he can't be pushed. we are seeing less and less of his volcanic eruptions which is a relief. he's doing so great this year in kindergarten.

riley turned 8 and was baptized last fall - here she is beaming in her beautiful white quinceaƱera-ish) dress. she's doing great on the piano and recently picked up the violin. she's excited for the warm weather and she joined the swim team. go marlins!

that's the official version of our past year. we're working to make next year less chaotic and more exciting. is that a contradiction in terms?
